Program Leader - Protein Expression, Production, and Fermentation
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for developing, evaluating and/or optimizing technologies, processes, methodologies and strains for production of renewable biochemicals and biofuels. The individual will be a key contributor with complementary expertise in protein expression, fermentation, scale-up, purification and downstream processing. The candidate must be able to conduct research and development with minimum guidance related to scale up and optimizing protein expression. Candidate must be adept and comfortable working with government, academic, and industry collaborators.

REQUIREMENTS:
- PhD in Biological sciences/Biochemistry with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in protein expression and purification
- Strong technical aptitude with good commercialization sense
- Interdisciplinary experience with molecular biology, thermo-chemistry, process chemistry and renewable energy and/or renewable products
- Experience managing teams focused on complex technical projects
- Well-organized and able to manage several projects simultaneously; must be flexible and have the ability to work under pressure
- Ability to plan projects effectively, set goals, and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated leadership skills and an open and pro-active attitude
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to prepare project reports, technical papers for publication and presentation, and draft grant proposals in response to RFPs, as well as understand and document heterogeneous data and communicate effectively
- Experience in Industrial Biotechnology, Bioenergy, Biotechnology, or Pharmaceutical industries is a plus
